Dominion Theatre

The House of Miranda has been open at the Dominion Theatre for 1 year, and now we have some new faces in the cast. This is a charming film to stage adaptation!

This week, we were treated to an absolute delight! The Devil Wears Prada had their 1st anniversary celebrations; there was a band playing Christmas songs before you went into the theatre, and Elton John gave a speech at the end of the show. It was a night of theatre dreams. This is the second time watching the show, and if you want to read my previous thoughts, CLICK HERE

If you love a bit of fashion, an empowering and fun musical, then this is it! The music is by Elton John, and you can hear his signature style in the songs. If you love Elton John, then you will also love this show. It's indeed one to watch. The costumes by Gregg Barnes are unmatched, with such beautiful designs that capture the style of the original film and complement the range of actors' body shapes and give a little personality to each character. It's a fashion show in a musical, which is a little different.

Of course, what we all want to focus on is the new additions to the musical and what they give to the show. You must go see the show again with this cast, because they bring something new and different to the characters. Stevie Doc plays Andy, and she clearly captures Andy's power and drive to work towards her ambition. She shows how headstrong and determined her character is, especially in the song 'Miranda Girl'. You will be blown away by her vocals, this is for sure Doc's phoenix rising on the stage moment, and it's incredible work. What a rising flame. Talia Halford plays the iconic role of Emily, and what comedy she brings. She presents how dedicated Emily is to her position, and one of my personal favourite songs, 'Bon Voyage' is performed by her beautifully. She adds vibrance to this number, colours each line of the song with her vocal range and embellishes each line with her grand comic acting skills. You can see the hilarious, sarcastic moments. Nate is played by Keelan McAuley, and he's made this character very lovable and fun. Going from playing 'Josh' in Clueless to 'Nate' in this show has been a seamless transition, because the two roles are almost similar. You can see the fun he has with the role, and he also showcases his brilliant dance skills! The little additions he adds to the choreography make the audience gasp with admiration. Great work! Each actor has been cast extremely well.

What are you waiting for?! Book your tickets, dress your way up for an incredible evening at the House of Miranda. Vanessa Williams and Matt Henry are still thriving in their roles! Make sure to catch the new cast... BUT ALSO get listening to the songs on listening platforms, I have the album saved to my Spotify, and I'm learning Miranda Girl as we speak. If you love the film, you will love this show. It's the perfect evening for you and your gal pal!
