If you are looking for a unique cocktail or a tasty wine in Amsterdam that will take your taste buds on a journey, look no further! All day, my fiancé and I were walking around the city, and there was no end of pubs. But, as a champagne lover and cocktail enthusiast, we just couldn't find a place that served much more than a mimosa. We were looking for somewhere special and classy to celebrate a year since our engagement. We walked past the divine Hotel TwentySeven and by chance walked in to ask if they had a bar, and that is where my love for Bar TwentySeven began.

Upon entry, you are greeted by a lovely doorman who takes your coat and welcomes you. We were then escorted to a beautiful lift that took us up to the bar. The whole building is a beautiful work of classic art. If I could choose a show that reminds me of, I would say the glamour of The Great Gatsby, of course. The staff are extremely personable, accommodating and unique. Our server was a lovely lady who made the experience perfect. We were so glad to have chosen this bar to celebrate our engagement. They let us sit in the side room where the ceiling is dark and there are twinkling lights that resemble stars. The view of the city through the windows is breathtaking.

To celebrate, we shared our first bottle of Ruinart champagne, and for €120, it's worth every penny. In terms of pricing, in London, it would be hard to find a bottle for this price in a bar! A delicate, refreshing and golden champagne, the bubbles tickle your tongue. We ordered a cheese and bread board, which was not on the menu, but the restaurant staff were extremely accommodating. I'd just like to add that the hotel has a one Michelin star restaurant 'Bougainville' inside, and I have added it to my bucket list. The bread and cheese we had were out of this world. We were blown away. Warm, fluffy bread, nutty crackers and two different types of cheese. One was mature and flaky, the other oaky and smooth, the flavours dance in your mouth. I didn't want the experience to end. We were then given a complimentary shot of their special martini, which was also incredible. The temperature muted the alcoholic kick of the drink; it had notes of jasmine tea, and the refreshing gin combination was unique and classy.

We enjoyed the experience so much that we went back the next day to see what their cocktails had to offer. My choice was a champagne cocktail called 'Bohemian Rhapsody' based on the iconic Freddie Mercury and his three favourite drinks: Vodka and tonic, tea and champagne. It's a delightful blend of smooth Grey Goose Vodka, Ruinart Champagne, Nolet's Gin, and Pekoe Jasmine, and these are the main ingredients. The golden taste of this classy cocktail is unique and fresh. I wish I had some caviar to pair with it. Funnily enough, Bohemian Rhapsody was playing whilst I was drinking the drink, which enhanced the experience. My fiancé went with their fruity, flavourful and charming Nairobi, which was served in a smoky globe and poured into a glass. Great presentation! Its authentic taste is created from a blend of Tecan Blanco, Bombay Sapphire, ginger, passionfruit, vanilla and cinnamon. It was one of their cocktails from their around-the-globe selection. It was unique, tasteful and a beautiful experience. The cocktails are artistic and classy. We were also given a selection of nuts to enjoy with our drinks, a great pairing.

I wish I could have brought this cocktail bar back home with me, and I long to return. We loved it so much that we went twice, considering we were only in Amsterdam for 5 days! This is the perfect cocktail bar and a hidden gem. Don't sit on this one, you must experience it! A divine selection of drinks, lovely and accommodating staff and a building filled with colour and style.
