Following a successful and SOLD OUT run at the Chichester Festival Theatre earlier this year.'The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry' musical is setting up camp at the Theatre Royal Haymarket at the end of January next year, till April. The musical is based on the beautiful story written by Rachel Joyce, who adapted the book into the musical. The music and lyrics are by Passenger. The cast is star-studded: Harold Fry is played by Mark Addy, and his wife, Maureen, is played by Jenna Russell. It's been announced that the role of 'Balladeer', previously played by Jack Wolfe, is now to be played by the fabulous Noah Mullins. The show is also directed by Katy Rudd

It's all about a man in his sixties, Harold Fry, who receives a letter from an old friend who is ill and his world changes. This is a catalyst and inspires him to embark on his pilgrimage from Devon to Berwick on Tweed. It's a moving story that everyone can relate to in their own way, and it's all about a huge journey, not just a physical journey, but an emotional journey. He meets strangers along the way who inspire him and battles with what he has suppressed in his life. This is going to be something moving and extraordinary.
After spending an afternoon with some of the cast and creative, having a sneaky peek at some of the songs and hearing about the characters, it is clear that this is a bit of theatre to get excited about. One character I am particularly excited about is the BEAUTIFUL puppet 'Dog'. Passenger has written some thoughtful and stunning songs. There were a few tears!
If you have read the story, you will know how special this story is, and if not, then you are in for a treat. Either way, get your tickets booked, because this is a show that you must NOT miss out on.
